Welcome to the San Diego Digital SLR Photography Group

We welcome all DSLR photographers in the San Diego area to our online camera club. Our aim is to be a center of excellence for DSLR photography in San Diego, California.

San Diego Digital SLR Photography Group is an informal camera club of digital photographers in San Diego California. Our aim is to encourage DSLR owners to get the most from their cameras by joining a community of like-minded individuals who love their art and enjoy sharing their knowledge of photography.

We meet for regular photography group shoots on the second Saturday of each month at locations around San Diego County. The venue is usually announced on the web site around two weeks before the scheduled date. Images from the DSLR group shoots are shared on this site for all members to enjoy in a non-competitive way.

Recent Wandering in the Desert

There are still a lot of wildflowers out in Anza Borrego, and the cactus and ocotillo are really blooming nicely too. A more long lasting (but certainly not permanent) thing is the geology.  We found some interesting sandstone rock formations on Sunday, as we have on previous trips.

I keep hearing how rare the Desert Five Spot is supposed to be, but there are lots of them in Hawk Canyon this year, just like there was last year.

Seems like we all like to post close ups of the flowers, so here's a wider view shot of the Cactus Garden located north of Kane Springs Road on Harper Canyon Road (well, hardly a road, more like a trail).

End of the day, heading west into the setting sun, on Kane Springs Road.

More shots from this and other recent trips on my blog here, with links to galleries at the end of each post.

I generally like going on the first weekend, as the second weekend it starts to get a bit crowded.

Who's going and what day?  Shawn and I are flexible.

April Group Shoot - Seaport Village

Our April Group Shoot will be on Saturday, April 10th at Seaport Village.

Post your pictures here: http://www.sandiegodslr.com/?q=gallery&g2_itemId=46293

We will meet near the main fountain at 9 a.m. for our group photo. Seaport Village will be having their Spring Busker Festival that weekend so there will be lots of interesting people to shoot. The Busker Festival runs from Noon until 5 p.m. and if anyone is interested in making an entire day of it, Buskers After Dark goes from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

As for lunch, I figured we can all make our own plans once we are at the shoot. Perhaps take advantage of the food court or break into smaller groups and eat at one of the restaurants…? I leave it up to you to decide. See you soon!
