Welcome to the San Diego Digital SLR Photography Group

We welcome all DSLR photographers in the San Diego area to our online camera club. Our aim is to be a center of excellence for DSLR photography in San Diego, California.

San Diego Digital SLR Photography Group is an informal camera club of digital photographers in San Diego California. Our aim is to encourage DSLR owners to get the most from their cameras by joining a community of like-minded individuals who love their art and enjoy sharing their knowledge of photography.

We meet for regular photography group shoots on the second Saturday of each month at locations around San Diego County. The venue is usually announced on the web site around two weeks before the scheduled date. Images from the DSLR group shoots are shared on this site for all members to enjoy in a non-competitive way.

August Group Shoot - Embarcadero Waterfront - Saturday, Aug 13, 2011

For the August Group Shoot we'll meet in front of the Star of India and spend some time exploring along the waterfront. For those that have not been there in a while there is a relatively new batch of Urban Trees. Also, the San Diego Maritime Museum is a great way to spend a few hours.

Date:  Saturday, August 13, 2011

Time:  Meet at 9:00AM, group photo at 9:23AM

Gallery: http://sandiegodslr.com/?q=gallery&g2_itemId=65900

Place:  In front of the Star of India at the San Diego Maritime Museum on Harbor Drive. (We'll meet on the sidewalk in front of the ship, you do not need to purchase an admission to the museum. If you can find the Urban Tree in the photo below, you're practically there.)

For lunch we'll meet at 12:00 Noon at the Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant, located at the Holiday Inn at The Bay, directly across Harbor Drive.

For those who are interested, admission to the Maritime Museum is $14 for one time, or for an extra $5 you can buy a pass good for a whole year. Also, as of a few days ago they are no longer charging a separate admission charge for the temporary exhibit of paintings, sculptures and artifacts from Cook, Melville and Gauguin.  They also have a nice little collection of black & white prints on display that were taken by Edward Steichen during WWII, mostly of Naval and Marine Aviation activities.
